Our Story

How it all started...

Aaron and Mary Case moved to Williston ND in 2016 when Aaron took the position as Discipleship Pastor at New Hope Church. The couple knew that God had led them there, but also knew Aaron's longterm calling was as a Lead Pastor. During their 5 years at New Hope they had an impactful ministry and formed lifelong friendships, but as time went on God stirred within their hearts a longing for the next step. What they never anticipated was church planting.

Aaron's plan for a next step was to lead an established church, but when the offer came from New Hope Leadership to plant a church in Bismarck, plans changed. After a time of prayer Aaron and Mary moved to Bismarck in July 2021, and began getting to know some local residents. That group of people began meeting in the Case's home the following September.

On the heals of the pandemic, both Aaron and Mary were distressed by increasing divisions within the  church. Political opinions, vaccinations, and other divisive matters were increasingly becoming the central issues for far too many Christian people. This led Aaron to ask, shouldn't Jesus and Jesus alone be central to who we are as the church? That question influenced our ministry and name.

A year later while still in team building phase, having outgrown the Case's living room, the group moved into the Hub on south 1st St. During this time God brought together the team who would officially launch Central City Church. On October 1st Central City Church celebrated their grand opening worship service at the Bismarck Event Center, a place they called home until the following July. That move led us to our current location at the Francis Leach High Prairie Arts & Science Complex.

Beginning with the burdens felt by Aaron and Mary, Central City Church is a community with a heart for the spiritually homeless, people yet to come into relationship with God, and those who feel caught in the crossfire of the culture wars. We desire to see how Jesus will continue to lead us as his ambassadors of peace in a broken world.
